Neko ♥ Bee

This is a flash video game I'm working on. It's really an experiment in game ai. My goal is to create complex behaviors for the different characters so that they can interact with the world around them and other characters.

The idea is that each of the characters will be stored in individual files so that they can be loaded into different game worlds. This will allow me to use them in non-playable web graphics and gadgets. I'm also planning on having a system for directing the characters to engage in different activities.

In the game mode all the interactions with the world and characters will cause changes in the world. For example, as the bee flies around between the flowers she pollinates them. This causes more flowers to grow. The more flowers you grow in one world the more there will be in the next. This is because a major component of the worlds will be dynamic generation.

  1. Original Demo - This is the first bit of development I did on this game. I'm not sure how much of this code I'll keep. It has a few objectives you have to complete.
  2. Bee AI Test - I was working on writing an independent bee ai so that the character could fly around without user control.

I'm also thinking of doing static levels instead of dynamic ones.

i've been inspired to work on my neko loves bee game. i don't have any new developments done, but i think i'm gonna get all my stuff together on my laptop so i can start working on it again.

and i have some neat new ideas for stuff to include. kinda an idea of where to take the game. i'm gonna have it so that you can get the neko and bee to go into their human forms. the look will be based on karli's art. and maybe have the mexican puddin' wrestling as a hidden game.

i'm thinking that in human form neko and bee will be able to take on different ages. chibi, loli, adult/teen. of course you'll have to find all these abilities. i'll probably have chibi be the first age you get in human form. and have it so that neko can climb stuff, and bee can fly around. and each of them will be able to do different things.

i'll probably have the first few levels be purely dynamically generated. and these will be where you get some of the basic controls and stuff like that... and then have it so that after that the worlds are more static with dynamic stuff in them.

i haven't really started on level one yet... and i need to actually make the instructions. and make the goals more obvious and stuff like that... but the introduction (demo) level is pretty much done. there are four goals; catch the bee, make the kitty love the bee, make the bee love the kitty, and collect pollen. i need to make it so that it announces when you've accomplished catch the bee and collected enough pollen...

right now it uses session vars to remember your status in the game. i need to get game save working, and then it'll be able to rank all the players... ^_^ bwahahaha.... till then the password part doesn't really do anything when you create an account... but it will eventually let you save your game... so yeah... i need to start designing level one...

neko love bee, once you create a new game you can start playing the introduction level. it keeps track of your score and the goals you've accomplished. i'm still implementing some of this.... i've also got scrolling working.... which is kinda neat... oh and when you start off you're not controlling either of the characters... you have to catch the bee first... ^_^ have fun.

ok so i sorta have the kitty walking.... and now both the bee and the kitty spawn hearts.... the kitty makes darker ones and th bee makes lighter ones... ^_^ i need to play around more with dynamic color generation....

i've made it so that the bee follows the mouse around and when you take the bee into the flowers she picks up pollen...
and she drops the pollen while she's flying around.... ^_^

the cat just stands there and generates hearts... i'm going to add moods to the bee... so that she can spawn hearts and stuff other than just pollen... and *chomps*
